A flexible residential building that's breaking records

With over 500 apartments on over 18,000 m² of floor space the building located in Madrid's Valdebebas neighbourhood is one of the largest wood-concrete hybrid system using the CREE Building system. The vision with this project is to develop sustainable and multi-use system construction solutions with the client early on.

The HASSLACHER Group is a licenced CREE product and service partner with international experience in glulam construction with experience in wood-hybrid construction. In collaboation with ACR and CREE, the HASSLACHER Group executed the prefabrication of this large volume project in a short period of time.

This allowed a project partner, ACR, to turn its maximum-quality wood-hybrid building into reality quickly and accurately. The CREE system covers the approach towards hybrid construction, but also viewing the building as a whole, including building services, interior fit out, construction physics and statics. The HASSLACHER Group contributed their timber expertise, but also supplied highly prefabricated accurate glued laminated timber components.

They were delivered to the facade manufacturer who mounted the glued laminated timber supports directly onto the facade elements to deliver the walls as system elements. The glued laminated beams were delivered to the manufacturer of the wood-concrete composite ceilings. NORDLAM GmbH at the HASSLACHER Group's Magdeburg site, produced and supplied up to 1450 m³ of spruce glulam in the strength classes GL24 and GL28.
