KISS – micro campus and ecological lighthouse project in Munich

At Kistlerhofstraße 140 in Munich's Obersendling district, Neuplan GmbH is developing a new headquarters for the Bavarian Red Cross. This will be an innovative and sustainable building project that sets new benchmarks. Project KISS (for "Kistlerhofstraße Sustainable Space") comprises a U-shaped building with seven storeys and a total floor space of 17,240 m² that will become available in the first quarter of 2025.

Ecological lighthouse project with wood-hybrid construction

KISS stands for a sustainable building method and is one of the first EU taxonomy compliant project in Germany. Thanks to its wood-hybrid construction, it only creates half of the carbon emissions of a conventional building. Power generated by solar panels built into the facade covers up to 98% of the building's general power demand (e.g. for heating, air conditioning and lighting) – impressive efficiency that makes the building a role model for modern and sustainable architecture.

      Flexible work and highest standards

The project offers flexible, modern work environments thanks to large, bright rooms, large windows that can be opened, cooling sails and individually configurable floor plans. Certified according to DGNB Platinum, WELL Gold and WireScore Platinum, the building meets the highest standards when it comes to sustainability, health and digital infrastructure.

      The HASSLACHER Group's contribution

For the building's removable and recyclable wood-hybrid construction the HASSLACHER Group supplied about 400 m³ of cross laminated timber and 480 m³ of glued laminated timber special components in the form of composite elements. The composite elements are comprised of so-called "block-bonded" glued laminated timber. With their high pressure, the hydraulic presses used in its production guarantee a thin and thus high-quality and safe glue joint.

These high-quality timber construction products were made at the HASSLACHER Group's Stall (NORITEC Holzindustrie GmbH) and Hermagor (HASSLACHER Holzbausysteme GmbH) sites. Project KISS shows how ecological construction and functionality can be combined– an example that will influence future buildings to come.
