New School “Lysningen” in Viborg built in Timber Construction
For the new building of the Lysningen School in Viborg, Denmark, the architectural firm Arkitema made a conscious desision to use timber – a renewable raw material – as the main building material, including for the roof structure of the integrated sports hall.
The HASSLACHER Group supported the general contractor NCC Danmark A/S through its subsidiary HESS TIMBER in the realization of the roof structure, which consists of 19 glued laminated timber beams, each over two meters high and twenty-five meters long. These were manufactured at the HASSLACHER Group’s facilities in Kleinheubach (HASSLACHER Holzbauteile GmbH) and Hermagor (HASSLACHER Holzbausysteme GmbH). In total, approximately 370 m³ of factory-prefabricated timber components were delivered from these two sites to Denmark.
