Umag is a picturesque port city that hugs the coast of the Istria peninsula. The ruins of the 10th century city walls carry the century-long history of the city. Besides its idyllic beaches, its sights include its medieval old area, where you can explore its bustling market, browsing fresh produce, fish, meats and more.

This is where Stenavert d.o.o. is building an open-air market where the HASSLACHER Group delivered 250 m³ of glued-laminated timber. The span of these custom glued-laminated timber elements is an impressive 38 m. Unloading and installing these was a special challenge. As the building is in the centre of the century-old city, two cranes were used. A 150-ton crane was used to unload and lift them over the roof of the existing buildings, while a more manoeuvrable second 100-ton crane was used for installation.
