The HS Baco Panels office building in Comanesti, Romania, was completed in 2021. It is composed of two volumes stacked at a right angle. With the bright orange facade the two-story building stands out from the surrounding landscape and offers a covered entrance. The client wanted to build a sustainable and energy-efficient building that would provide employees with an inviting workplace. The planners from Tecto Arhitectura designed a material and cost-optimized timber construction, which was built with around 435 m³ of cross laminated timber walls and ceilings in visible and industrial quality, as well as around 40 m³ of glulam columns and beams. The timber components were manufactured by NORITEC Holzindustrie GmbH, a company of the HASSLACHER Group, at the Sachsenburg and Stall in the Mölltal area.
In addition to the sustainbilty of the building, special emphasis was placed on the use of daylight and increased sound insulation. The glulam lamellas in the ceiling area are not only visually appealing, but also improve the acoustics in the room. The ventilation system is equipped with a heat recovery system with heating fuel and electricity being sourced from a biomass cogeneration plant. The green roofs also add to the environmental aspect of the project.
