810 wooden columns, 790 wooden beams, around 2,200 m² of wooden ceilings with a thickness of 200 mm - these are the characteristics of an ambitious project located in Konrad-Adenauer-Straße in Ingelheim, Rhineland-Palatinate: the new administrative building of the district administration Mainz-Bingen. It houses offices and administration rooms on a floor area of around 5,000 m², providing sufficient space for more than 300 employees.

The primary supporting structure was made from glued laminated timber out of birch and the ceilings from cross laminated timber (spruce). The curtain wall consists of a timber frame construction with 400 individual elements. In total, the HASSLACHER group supplied 50 m³ of cross laminated timber with an excellent surface made of birch and around 313 m³ of glued laminated timber (birch) including joinery.

Due to the low burn-off rate and the high mechanical properties, 30% of the volume could be saved compared to the use of cross laminated timber in spruce.
