The aim was not only to satisfy the population's need for a cultural centre but also to give the town an urban centre with a town square. The simple compact structure blends harmoniously into the townscape. It has been flexibly designed for a range of different uses, large windows permit views down the broad valley, onto the surrounding mountain scenery and towards the new town centre. A timber structure was placed on a solidly built basement. The timber facade is stained dark, the interior furnishings are of light-coloured fir and spruce wood.
