In Nashville, a five-story Mass Timber office building is being built on Music Row. StructureCraft is the structural engineer and contractor responsible for the Mass Timber and steel construction. The Mass Timber structure consists of prefabricated dowel-laminated-timber panels (DLT) and glued laminated timber columns and beams. This skeleton structure transfers its horizontal loads to the interior, cantilevered steel structure. The elevator shaft was made of cross-laminated timber (CLT) and has the required fire protection without any planking. With a priority on biophilic design and visible wood, structure, meticulous attention had to be paid to the connection details and the associated CNC machining.
