HoHo Vienna
The tallest timber building is being erected in Seestadt Aspern
(Urban Lakeside Development Aspern, Vienna)
Located within the mega-urban-development Seestadt Aspern, € 65m are invested in the construction of the “HoHo”, encompassing an area of about 4000 m². The building displays 24 floors, a height of 84 m and a gross floor area of 25,000 m². HASSLACHER group is providing beams and walls made of glued laminated timber and cross laminated timber respectively for this beacon project.
GLUED LAMINATED TIMBER BEAMS FROM THE HERMAGOR SITE
HASSLACHER group is providing approximately 400 m³ glued laminated timber and 14,400 m² cross laminated timber for the overall project in Aspern, Vienna. The glued laminated timber beams are made as so-called composite components (block adhesives), processed ready-to-go, equipped with glued-in ribbed steel and double coated with indoor-varnish. On the building site, the ribbed steel is cast into pre-fabricated reinforced concrete elements to create a tensile- and shear strong connection between concrete and timber. The cross-sections of the beams range from 400 x 400 mm² to 400 x 1,240 mm².
CROSS LAMINATED TIMBER WALLS FROM THE STALL IM MÖLLTAL SITE
The cross laminated timber walls are produced at the Stall in Mölltal site. Post-processing of the wall elements
is the biggest challenge when considering precision and appearance. The visual surfaces are finished with the
excellent lamella in spruce, which has proven its worth as a gaps- and cracks free wood surface. The newly installed
surface-refinement centre is used for the walls to finish the cross laminated timber with water-based surface
protection (yellowing protection and dirt-repellent). Fine and intermediate sanding ensure optimal surface results.
