Austrian Solar Prize 2015 awarded to HASSLACHER NORICA TIMBER

HASSLACHER NORICA TIMBER was awarded the Austrian Solar Prize 2015 in the category "Industrial, commercial or agricultural business". The ceremony took place at the Higher Technical College (HTBLA – Höhere Technische Bundeslehranstalt) in Karlstein.

In 2015, a photovoltaic system was put into operation at each of our sites in Sachsenburg (company headquarters) and Preding in Styria. Christoph Kulterer, owner and CEO of HASSLACHER NORICA TIMBER, explains, "With the additional installation of the photovoltaic system we are already generating more energy from sustainable sources than is being consumed."

These plants will save approx. 1,400 tons CO2 a year compared to conventional energy sources. Some 13,600 m2 of solar modules were installed at the company's headquarters in Sachsenburg, The area covered in Preding is approx. 6,600 m2.

The plant in Sachsenburg has an output of about 2.1 megawatts while the one in Preding achieves about 1 megawatt. HASSLACHER NORICA TIMBER is gradually focusing on e-mobility not only in energy generation but also in consumption and the production process. Checks on using electrically-powered vehicles are always made when investing in new forklifts or cars.
