Hasslacher Norica Timber constructs fish ladder

SACHSENBURG/SPITTAL. In the coming five months, HASSLACHER NORICA TIMBER will construct a fish ladder at the Hasslacher weir on the River Lieser in Spittal an der Drau. According to an EU Water Framework Directive, all flowing waters with power plant involvement must have these basic conditions by the end of 2015 so that fish can carry out their migration movements in the river alongside power plants without any obstacles.

      Length of 110 metres

The fish ladder is 110 metres long and the difference in height from top to bottom is 5.5 meters. The groundbreaking ceremony for it took place on 29 September 2015. As part of constructing the fish ladder, an instream flow hydropower plant with a maximum output of 230 KW will also be built. The cost of these investments is around EUR 1.2 million.
